I agree. Epic Records tried *unsuccessfully* to incorporate hip-hop artists and rappers onto Shakira's tracks in order to reach a broader audience. With the exception of Hips Don't Lie, it didn't do much good. Instead of trying to repeat that same formula again, I think she's better off collaborating with other superstars in her own field (J Lo, Enrique, Beyonce, etc). Create the ultimate "Shakira" song rather than add elements from outside Shakira's style to attract other audiences. Again, it'd be nice to have some great successful solo songs, but if her team insists on collaborations, I think they'd be best off collaborating with big names from the Latin-Pop genre.

Of the songs you listed, Starships, Turn Me On, and Super Bass are the only ones I like ... and honestly, I LOVE all three! HOWEVER, I absolutely HATE all of her other songs. Her pop stuff is excellent, but I can't stand her rapping (or rap in general for that matter).

I'm merely giving my opinion and just really buzz of with Nicki ever doing smthn with Shakira. So in your theory i would love her if i would listen to all her stuff?
Maybe i should start listening to all the bands i don't like and i'll love it. Best female "rapper" is merely an opinion of you, give me Lil kim or Missy Elliot any time over her.

And if Shakira would do it and it would be a hit, i doubt it would be due to the content Nicki would have in the song rather then the quality of the music that's in it.

No i just hate her attitude, the emptiness in her music and lyrics compared to other music out there, it's painful to see youth these days going over the moon for such empty headed music.

on topic: I hope this move has great results! I think I'm more excited for this new album than any of her other albums...it's her chance to cement herself as a worldwide superstar again with new management, hopefully new PR representation, everything starting fresh. hopefully she has more artistic freedom but also remains one of the top musicians worldwide. it's going to be really interesting to see how varied this album is/isn't, but judging from all of the info we've had so far this seems to be the most dance/electronic influenced album thus far - it's going to be awesome to see how she's expanded from She Wolf.

I would gladly push for a Beyonce/Shakira colab. They apparently have a stable friendship going on so that would give itself to a more thought out process of recording a masterpiece. They worked together before, they are not strangers, Beyonce won't be intimidated by Shakira standing by her and vice versa.

I HONESTLY would kill for Beyonce colab, that is the only bitch in the game who has kept it classy. Rihanna has all of the sudden lost her class and is trashy and sexual. Katy as stated by her "never grew up" and is rather childish (although I do like the songs that are written for her).

So... duet with Beyonce would be CLASS.

I agree that another duet with Beyonce would be a good idea. And it would work in favor for both of them. Beautiful Liar was on Beyonce's album, so Beyonce owes Shak the favor of being featured on her own album. And I'm thinking Beyonce will release a new album late this year or early 2013, so a collab song on Shak's album would get her voice back on the radio pre her own release (much like the Shak-Pitbull song on his album).
