QUOTE(Animalian @ Oct 19 2006, 02:44 PM) Okay, so I know most of y'all hate Christina, but I mean, you really can't hate this song... well, that's what I think anyways. One of my friends who hates her said the song was really good ... well, personally, I think it's the BEST song on the BTB album ... so what do you all think??? Can't say that I *hate* her, she's just not very high on my favorite artist list. She went all sleazy and I think that got her a little tarther along than raw talent. I have a hard time respecting a female performer who uses her looks to garner attention as opposed to being amazing on CD and in person.

Oh,you mean like having her hair glamorously blond and wearing full length tight fitting dresses. Oh no i can't respect any entertainer like that either.

QUOTE(Animalian @ Oct 19 2006, 07:24 PM) well, she is re-inventing herself ... sorta like Madonna ... besides she is glamour
I'd rather her not try to be " sorta " like anyone else. I'd just like to see her be herself.

QUOTE(Kain_Thornn @ Oct 19 2006, 10:50 PM) Good, cos I just can't picture her doing such a serious song. Not at her age.
She wrote that song about her mum on her new album. She started crying IIRC the first time she sung it to an audience. QUOTE(Kain_Thornn @ Oct 20 2006, 02:41 AM) You're being vague. Aguilera jumped on the sleazy side of the R&B bandwagon just like all the rest of them, Beyonce, Spears, etc... Can't we have a young attractive female singer in R&B who doesn't sing about her ass and the wonderful things she can do with it?
I wouldn't class Christina Aguilera as an R n B singer. She's a popstar, and her last album Stripped wasn't an urban album anyway. It has rock song, salsa, melodies and like two R n B tracks (out of 20 tracks). And Back to Basics is as far away from R n B as you can get; Disk One is modern pop music, Disk Two is entirely 1930's themed in style and production. She uses no modern technology sounds in it, none at all.

At the VMAs the audience director was telling my row (because we were in the front basically) that we had to stand up for such and such performances, but then she said "Christina is going to do a ballad and she is going to cry halfway through".. LOL. I don't remember if she did cry but people were laughing that the director knew she was going to cry because it seemed so phoney.

No modern technology? You've got to be kidding me, the entire album is basically sampling.
She's got nice pipes, but too typical, boring for me. And she couldn't write a deep song if her life depended on it, all by herself.
And to whoever said she's classy because she's glamourous and has classy hair blah blah...it all gets contradicted very soon, look at the Blender cover she just did...TRASHY!
I hate her fake image, she's trying to be the opposite of media tabloid whores like Paris Hilton, Britney, by being "classy" but the inner slut never strays too far, just look at the cover. Her "image" and "depthness" (lmao) is just a stupid ploy for people to think shes a "true artist" and buy her records.
A nice, typical voice only gets you so far. Both video and song are boring, the song is way overdone, been done 10billion times before.

Why is this guy even here? All he's done is talk about Christina Aguilera. No one really gives a shit about her here.
I'd love to see Christina completely be hands on with ONE song, just ONE song, where she completely writes the lyrics, has some input as far as the sound goes, hell maybe even write some of the actual music, then I'd love to see her step out of her boring repetitive voice, and possibly attempt playing a musical instrument...come up with a song, with absolutely no sampling whatsoever, and not have it be a typical piece of shit song everyones heard a million times.
Then come back and say she's had more "decent" songs than Shakira.
And although they are worlds apart. Christina has absolutely no originality, no passion for music, actual music, not just her narcissistic voice which she always relies on. Like I've said a million times, a nice voice only gets you so far, I could simply be a Christina fan, but she has nothing to offer at all, besides her prototype nice voice.
She will never have a true grasp of music and the passion that comes naturally to Shakira. She's never hands on with the entire project, since day one (childhood) her parents or whoever pushed her into a musical career have found what shes good at (vocals), and she never expanded from there, so she will never, ever have a built up connection with actual music and she can't really grasp different music styles while adapting to them, her voice will just be thrown over it to cover up her ignorance to being a true artist, in every sense of the word.

as usual,i don't give more than a dog's dry shit on "artist" like aguilera,spears,etc... but this time i wanted to see what's all the fuss about... so i took a look at the video... ..... ..... INSTANT BARF!
first of all, what's the song all about?(decieving, lying, heartbreaking, etc.):same stuff i heard in lots of songs till this one second :the story in the video makes little --to--non-sense , she is in a circus, that guy looks at her from a distance, suddenly the circus is ruined, she can't find that guy anymore(what did i just tell you about barf?) i wonder if she came up with 20% of the lyrics cause ,with the song, which is already a rolled-over type ,she coudn't have gone far with the collaboration!
this.....pathetic basura ...sort of reminded me of something else...but i'll get back with that in a new topic...stay tuned....that will be the SHIT

Ok how does a hair comparison justify you talking about her everywhere on the board?
If she was such a good artist, it'd be apparent, and there wouldn't be a need to justify it and "defend" her.
And record sales are irrelevent to me, and many people here, as they say absolutely nothing about talent and being a "good artist", anyone, and I do mean ANYONE can sell a lot of records. have good looks, good marketing ploy, and bam you've got yourself a hit record, it has nothing to do with the quality of the music.
not saying that she doesn't have a good voice, and semi-good looks (personal taste), but she doesn't offer much for me at all. she's better than a lot, but I've yet to hear anything authentic from her.
