my guess is all the big retailers. Macy's thats for sure. wonder if shell do a meet and greet for the launch of the perfume like christina and other singers have done...

If it comes out around the time of her album, she'll probably do a meet and greet for the album, not the perfume. Like when Fijacion Oral came out in june of 05 she did an instore signing, but 5 months later Oral Fixation came out and she did not do an in store signing. so she'll probably chose which one is more important for publicity. either way, if it's in NYC, I'm going!!

I think the perfume will be released right around the same time the album is to make promotion much easier. And again, I think the two products will be similar in many ways .... themeing that is.

i would have released both in time for christmas, if i was shaki and i had time to do that. but hey, at least we're getting an album as soon as we are. and she didn't totally disappear like last time.

interesting name, i like the name amulet and what it could mean, a perfume that is somehow magical in its power to attract someone to you or maybe protect you which is not what you would associate with a perfume. some thought has been put into it which is what i expect from shakira. not too keen on the bottle design although it is meant to look like a potion so its in keeping with the theme. the little amulet charm design is a good idea to wear on say a chain. overall a good concept and very different to other bland celebrity perfumes. shakira doesn't need the money so i'm sure a huge chunk will be going to charity.

Does the same or similar kind of reaction really have to keep happening? I know a lot of you are definately not happy ... not even near happy ... but yeah Shaki released HDL and now will also sell a perfume ... honestly not too much we can do ... and again - I am not just a 'blind' Shakira fan as many of you may say or even think ... anyways ...

I still like Shaki and have my own reasons ... as do we all ... I do hope that her ever changing image does not create too much negativity or resentment toward her - as you all have your own reasons for liking Shaki/her music.

Tell me all your wishes
I am here to make them true, don't wonder

My new resolution is to trust you
My business to love you until you've had it
I'm not gonna miss out on the good stuff
The grass is much greener with us on it

I see now that I'll have to repeat myself.

There's a distinction to be drawn here. Shakira's shift into the anglo market was a conscious choice and an excellent means to spread her message. I know that many saw her choice as 'slutty' and her more provocative clothing, overbearing makeup and wilder performances seemed distasteful, but let us agree that these were the trappings of a cultural clash. I would go so far as to say that Shakira needed some of these transformations to survive in the target market. Filthy as modern society may be, Shakira played it smartly and got to what I would consider the 'top', given her angle. The height of the Laundry Service campaign gave stark insight into her motivations and one got the impression that she was doing this while winking to her past fans that this was just a part of a larger plan. This era obviously also presented us with the tawdry merchandise.

Allow me to be clear on this. These various items of merchandise were not, until now, of her design. I speak under correction on this, as I believe she launched the t-shirts? Calendars, dolls, what have you, these are the creations of other minds and a parasitic symptom centred around most any icon, band, etc. The shirts I passed off as rather harmless, but now we begin seeing her title on a consumable item and what happens when this trend passes on to the next item and the next? Where does this cycle end?

You say she's a great human. The loss of one's ideals is the first step towards being, to put it softly, a rather mediocre human.

Shakira's wealthy enough to not have to subscribe to this garbage at all. Shakira is starting to appear hellbent on making her twilight years her less dignified ones. It's not too late. Not yet.

couldnt agree more.

----------------------------------------------
the first thing that drew me to shakira was her music, yes. but the thing that made me actually be a fan is the way that she always let her music speak of her. she always let her music and her art be her credentials, her way of expressing herself and reaching out to us.

so YES I am mad and disappointed at her, and I have every right to be. for around 10 years she led her career in a direction, and that direction was what attracted me of shakira, and in the last few years she is denying or taking back all that she had accomplished (with just her music) and is recurring to a style of presenting herself that she always frowned upon. she is turing [or rather, has turned] into what she hated the most. A BRAND... A LOGO.
