I'm not sure how to feel about this collab! But as short as that snippet is, it sounds really good.
El agua apago al fuego
Y al ardor los años,
Amor se llama el juego
En el que un par de ciegos
Juegan a hacerse daño.

I didn't see this collaboration coming.

But now that i listened couple of Nicky Jam's songs again, i'll wait for another catchy smash hit for Shakira's list.

Even though, did i understand correctly, the song will be on his album "Fenix" released in january?

It better be released as a single after the (yet) upcoming peak of Chantaje's succes and chart run.

That way they wouldn't harm each others succes.

The snippet isn't long enough to judge, but i suppose its intro(?) and it has exotic/robotic vibe.

I hope the song is as catchy as Hasta el Amanecer or El Perdon!

Imo Nicky Jam is one of the best reggaetoneros out there right now, and I remember a while back he mentioned that one of the artists he wanted to collaborate with was Shakira so this is pretty exciting. From what he says in the video I think it's safe to assume that the song is for his album? anyway, can't wait to hear the track!

sidenote: I know some people aren't too fond of the genre and all but artists like Maluma and Nicky Jam are highly successful right now, and it's exciting to see how these guys that are killing it in the Spanish market still seem very humbled and excited about working with Shakira. It's good to know that 20 years into the game, new artist still recognize her status and the opportunity to work with somebody as accomplished and global as the Latin queen  :drink:  lol

Can she stop? I literally gasped when I saw the title.

Nicky Jam is a step up from Maluma because his music is better, but mainstream reggeaton as a genre is lyrical trash sprinkled with a healthy dose of sexism. She, her label, or whoever needs to stop. I know I'm repeating myself here, but it makes me sad how she completely dropped the ball with Gordita, a quality "urban" track, but is now doing collaboration with these minimally talented men and just throwing more dirt in the image of her artistry. Can't she take some risks and do something with actual quality artists like Choco Quib Town? Or idek, even Chino y Nacho would be better at this point.

Whatever, I'll obviously end up supporting this song because it's Shakira, but I continue being totally unimpressed. And I still say that if she HAD to go to a reggeaton collab, at least it could have been with J Balvin, who does some interesting stuff. Rant over.

Who the hell is Nicky jam?

Puertorican reggaton/urban rapper/singer. He's been making music since the 90s, then took some breaks and now he's making hits again. It seems Shaki really wants to really focus on her spanish market this time!

Who the hell is Nicky jam?

He's basically the biggest Latin American artist around at the moment (besides Shakira herself). He got a HUGE worldwide hit with Enrique Iglesias last year, and he kinda capitalized on it with his latest smash "Hasta El Amanecer" which spent i don't know how many weeks at #1 on Hot Latin Songs (it even blocked La Bicicleta there if i'm not mistaken).

Bigger than Enrique Iglesias and Romeo Santos?

No. I was just playing with my choice of words when i said "Latin American" (because Romeo and Enrique are both bigger Latin artists than he is, but neither is actually Latin American). But he's definitely the most globally successful artist Shakira has worked with this decade besides Pitbull and Rihanna!

Wouldn't surprise me. Whoever does those soundtracks stans Latin music it seems. It'd be amazing if it was, you just can't get much more exposure than that!

What are you saying? Romeo is Dominican. Of course he is Latin American.

Omg if it's for FF though. I proudly admit how much I enjoy those movies. I wouldn't mind this collaboration if that turned out to be true.

Romeo was born and raised in New York, as far as i'm aware. I was talking from a geographical standpoint, but it's lowkey an irrelevant fact. Romeo Santos is a bigger latin artist than Nicky Jam either way, and so is Enrique Iglesias!

Her team is not stupid, Nicky Jam is one of the biggest Latin artist atm.

Actually, based on certifications alone, "El perdón" is bigger than any Shakira's single released this decade.

Im happy with this news! More music? Yes please, Nicky Jam has great tracks and are really well produced. Cant wait to see how this turns out.

I dont understand why people dont like this kind of news? After all, its better then nothing and better then the dry spells she left us with between past era's.

Totally agree. I also love to see how grateful and in awe all these artists and their teams are of working with Shakira. She is such a legend, at least in the Latin community, makes me so proud, especially seeing as she still is so young and hopefully has much more to give us. <3

Well I personally felt it was too "milked" and became too much of an action and spionage movie rather then the street race movie t was supposed to be. Maybe i'll give it another watch, but I didn't like it from what i've seen (partially) and from what i've seen on tv.
