Deja Vu lyrics

Ayayayayayayai
Ayayayayayayai

Tú me abriste las heridas
Que ya daba por curadas
Con limón, tequila y sal
Una historia repetida
Solamente un déjà vu
Que nunca llega a su final

Mejor me quedo solo
Y me olvido de tus cosas
De tus ojos

Mejor esquivo el polvo
No quiero caer de nuevo en esa foto de locura
De hipocresía total

¿Quién puede hablar del amor?
¿Y defenderlo?
Que levante la mano, por favor
¿Quién puede hablar del dolor?
Pagar la fianza
Pa' que salga de mi corazón
Si alguien va a hablar del amor
Te lo aseguro
Esa no voy a ser yo
Esa no voy a ser yo

Esta idea recurrente
Quiere jugar con mi mente
Pa' volverme a engatusar
Una historia repetida
Solamente un déjà vu
Que nunca llega a su final

Mejor me quedo sola
Y me olvido de tus cosas
De tus ojos

Mejor esquivo el polvo
No quiero caer de nuevo en esa foto de locura
De hipocresía total

¿Quién puede hablar del amor?
¿Y defenderlo?
Que levante la mano, por favor
¿Quién puede hablar del dolor?
Pagar la fianza
Pa' que salga de mi corazón
Si alguien va a hablar del amor
Te lo aseguro
Esa no voy a ser yo

¿Quién puede hablar del amor?
¿Y defenderlo?
Que levante la mano, por favor
¿Quién puede hablar de dolor?
Pagar la fianza
Pa' que salga de mi corazón
Si alguien va a hablar del amor
Te lo aseguro
Esa no voy a ser yo
Esa no voy a ser yo

Here's my translation of the lyrics. I took very light artistic liberties on a few lines to try and get the point across BUT I think for the most part that's what it says. Feel free to correct anything... I'm on my phone so yeah 😉

Shakira: You opened up old wounds
That I thought I had cured
With lemon, tequila and salt

Prince: The same old story
Only a déjà vu
That never comes to an end

It's best to stay alone
And forget about your things
And your eyes

Shakira: It's best to avoid the dust
I don't want to fall back into that photograph of madness
And total hypocrisy

Who can speak on behalf of love?
and defend it?
raise your hand, please

Prince: Who can speak of the pain?
Pay the price
So that it leaves my heart

Both: If someone is going talk about love
I assure you, It's not going to be me
No, its not going to be me

Prince: This reoccurring idea
wants to play mind games
To seduce me once again

Shakira: The same old story
Only a déjà vu
That never comes to an end

It's best to stay alone
And forget about your things
And your eyes

Prince: It's best to avoid the dust
I don't want to fall back into that photograph of madness
Total hypocrisy

Shakira: Who can speak on behalf of love?
And defend it?
raise your hand, please

Prince: Who can speak about the pain?
Pay the price
So that it leaves my heart

Both: If someone is going talk about love
I assure you, It's not going to be me

Shakira: Who can speaak on behalf of love?
And defend it?
raise your hand, please

Who can speak about the pain?
Pay the price
So that it leaves my heart

If someone is going talk about love
I assure you, It's not going to be me
it's not going to be me

This.

I'm here for the Sean Paul one only. Any news?

And/or a second feat with Carlos Vives.

Anything else is pretty forgettable.

That bachata is a mess. She sounds like a goat, he sounds like a girl. And what's with that stupid sound in the back? Sorry I'm not supporting this shit

I think her voice sounds good lately. She has toned down the goaty voice except from the belting which is always too throaty. She has no chill with her belts, i haven't heard clear belts since the Jay Leno Despedida performance.

It's cute for summer but other than that it ain't anything to write home about.

Yeah this song is too mellow and doesn't have hit potential (in my ears).

Bachata songs usually become hits when you can cut your veins in agony with it.

This is kindergarten bachata. And also, his voice has no depth plus the song doesn't really have a climax or anything.

Ugh, dont hate me guys, but I seriously dislike it.  Just because it's boring.  But Im a little biased.

Like,  I don't like bachata to begin with because it's boring to dance with and the melodies are repetitive and sometimes sound a little lazy.

Then I dont like Prince Royce because when he sings he sometimes sounds like he's pushing a poop really hard, and I know its whenever he wants to sound "passionate" or trying to reach high notes.

So all Im hearing is Shakira singing on the other side of the bathroom to pass the time while Prince Royce is pooping.

Oiiii today is monday... meh!!!! =3

Yep not digging it at all... there's no humph to it! No substance and very forgettable, I do agree on her voice though! She's been sounding lovely! But I'm ready for a new Shakira song!
And yes! I am super excited about the Sean Paul one too!! Ah my body has been asking for it since the early 2000s! This is a collab that I am really looking forward to! :)

I listened to it once today and can't even remember what it sounds like anymore (I guess I thought "Deja Vu" would be emphasized more in the chorus). Maybe it will be a big hit for people who like bachata.

The song isnt bad yall dragging it lol like yeah it sounds like just another bachata song but all bachata songs sound the same lmaoooo don't expect a chantaje sized hit but im sure this song will get it's fair share to the audience it's intended for. It's a cute song shakira sounds great be happy she's conquering every genre she touches lately 😂 She's gaining popularity in in every corner, as long as she never fucks up a feature singing like she did in get it started im good lmaoooo Im just hoping she slays on the sean Paul song with great vocals to ensure an English hit after so long 😩

I shockingly kind of like it (look at my posts when this was rumor - hated the idea of her stooping so low) - her voice is on point & I like that it's basically Shakira Ft. Prince Royce and not the other way around. But it is generic bachata so I wasn't expecting much to begin with.

Agree with everyone here - can't wait for the Sean Paul collab!

She can't fall any lower. What's wrong with her?

I understand her English music is almost an unfixable flop, and partly she's the only one to blame by creating that bland mess that Oral Fixation was as a follow up to Laundry Service, she lost momentum and I've been saying it for 11 years.
And then obviously taking 1000 days to record and mix albums that don't deliver, simply stupid
( Insert Trump's voice).

So ok Shakira you got us, your everlasting loyal Latin fans and foreigners who enjoy your Spanish music. But you are fucking Shakira, the genius, whom we refuse to take for granted or think she's overrated. And that's why I keep on coming back to this forum.
Look guys I'm not being an elitist upper class bastard by stating how all these cheap duets suck, it's just that they don't represent her, as an artist. That's it. Unless she's been a fake all these years and money was the only thing that mattered.
You can't go on singing about being a rabid woman who gets blackmailed and is crazy with her tiger. That shit makes no sense!! It didn't before and it won't in the years to come. And we shouldn't laugh about it, or applaud it.

Or do you know proudly state to others that your favourite artist is Shakira? When all they know her for is those horrendous songs.

All these songs are forgettable, banal, stupid desperate efforts to reach out people for the sake of reaching out people without purpose.

You became a brand Shakira. It's sad.

I'm not supporting this bachata like I won't support a new album full of banal shit. It's been too long meditating on it but if that's the case, she's going to become a memory and bye Felicia.

@Sherekan: While I don't agree with some of what you said, I do think you have a point. I don't understand either why she has decided to make all these random collabs. I guess she did Mi verdad because she genuinely liked the song, then we have LB, which makes sense for her, Chantaje was her own song and it brought something new to the table, but this particular song and Comme Moi seem utterly pointless. She also doesn't need them to stay relevant, given the success of both LB and Chantaje. I'm fine with her doing good collabs, but she seems to be accepting everything that comes to her table without a good reason. It's not that big of a deal for me tho, it just baffles me.

But anyway, I just hope the single treatment this song is receiving doesn't delay her own single or the album.

Sherekan totally has a point. I do like Chantaje and La Bicicleta because somehow they fit the Shakira brand. Yet her vocals are good, Deja Bu is simply crap. As somebody comment, I can't even remember the melody!

She's gaining a new fan base with all these songs, but she's lost the respect of many others and she doesn't seem to care much.

I disagree about her English music being a flop, because I think her English music is good, barring the self-titled, but agreed on everything else. It annoys me that she can't seem to branch out from what's she thinks she needs to do to sell in the Spanish market. Shakira, you're a proven artist, you've been in the business for more than 20 years now, you're past catering to the lower common denominator. She could create something really good and release it, without caring about the sales, but obviously for her what's more important is to collaborate with the hot thing of the moment, no matter quality. It's a real shame.

Of course she cares about the sales, what's the point of being a mainstream artist if you ain't selling? And she has to sell a tour too, so i guess her team decided on random collabs with hot mainstream artist to do the trick.

She hasn't toured since 2011, she hasn't released a spanish language album since 2011. She needs to re-introduce herself to younger audiences before the new era starts. It would be plain stupid to just drop an album because she's "Shakira" thinking it'll sell on its own. You all seem to forget how nasty, misogynist a nd ageist this business is.
I loved all of her collaborations so far. La Bicicleta brought her first Latin Grammy since 2010, Chantaje had crossover appeal and is a streaming monster, this will do well too. They'll help her to do well with her new era and sell tickets for her next tour.
